Sammon to have say in new Galway manager

Galway's Liam Sammon
Former Galway football manager Liam Sammon will have a say in who the county's new supremo will be.
Sammon will be part of a five-man committee which will interview candidates and recommend a successor to Tomas O Flatharta. Two candidates - Alan Mulholland and Gerry Fahy - remain in the race after Kevin Walsh and Billy Joyce withdrew their names. Walsh is staying with Sligo for another year, while former midfielder and manager Joyce isn't interested in running.
The identity of Galway's fourth football boss in five years will be known by the end of the month, with interviews for the post due to be held next week.
Football board chairman John Joe Holleran, secretary Seamus O'Grady, club delegates Gearóid Denver (Michael Breathnach) and Gerry Hussey (Dunmore McHales) join Sammon on the selection committee.
"Interviews will be held next week so we aim to have a new manager in place by the end of the month on Friday week," O'Grady said.
