Canning going nowhere

Joe Canning of Galway
Joe Canning has assured Galway supporters that he won't be emigrating, labeling himself a "home bird".
The Portumna sharpshooter was part of the Galway side which exited from the All-Ireland SHC to Waterford at the quarter-final stage last month, despite scoring 1-6 of his team's 2-13 total against the Deise men at Semple Stadium.
The defeat brought a disappointing end to the Tribesmen's season, but their star forward has given supporters the good news that he intends to stay for the long haul with his native county.
"I'm a home bird to be honest," Canning said. "I don't see myself going to Australian or America for any sort of a long stint. It wouldn't appeal to me."
