Canning disappointed with form

Galway's Joe Canning
Joe Canning has admitted that his form wasn't good enough this year.
The young Galway sharpshooter failed to reach the heights of his first two seasons as an inter-county hurler and says it is something he will have to work on.
"I had a very bad year, to be honest about it. I'll be straight up. I didn't perform at all this year," he said.
"It is something I have to look at. I have to try and get back to training and get back scoring and creating and getting on the ball a bit more. It just didn't happen for me," added Canning at a preview of the Bord Gais All-Ireland U-21 hurling semi-finals yesterday.
The Portumna clubman dismissed the notion that he is feeling the effects of having played too much hurling during his underage days.
"I wouldn't agree with that at all," he continued.
"I just played bad, basically. I am not going to make any excuses for my performances this year - I will take it on the chin and say that I didn't perform."
Commenting on next month's All-Ireland final, Canning believes Tipperary are the best equipped team to stop Kilkenny's quest for five-in-a-row.
"If any team is capable of doing it, Tipp are. They have the players to match them and maybe beat them, but they need a lot of luck," he said.
