Galway hurler Ger Farragher and Armagh football star Steven McDonnell have been named as the Vodafone Players of the Month for April.

Sharpshooter Farragher is honoured after starring in Galway's first NHL Division 1 success since 2004. It was the former underage star's first national title with the Tribesmen at senior level.

McDonnell, meanwhile, was a central figure in Armagh's capture of the NFL Division 2 title, scoring 0-6 in the final victory over local rivals Down last Sunday week. The Killeavy attacker has been revitalised under manager Paddy O'Rourke with his best performance of the campaign coming against Westmeath in round two when he registered a whopping 1-9 from play.
