'Big Joe' relishing Leeside challenge
March 06, 2010
Joe Kernan admits that tonight's NFL clash with Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn is a huge test for Galway, but is relishing the challenge nonetheless.
"It will be a big challenge for sure," said the Galway manager, whose team got their opening win of the campaign against Monaghan last time out.
"Cork have a very settled team, have made a great start to the league and have several danger men. Daniel Goulding is their main man but any good player needs a good supply and we have to try and cut that off."
Meanwhile, in-form full back Finian Hanley is already looking beyond this weekend when Galway face a very difficult schedule of games against Derry, Tyrone, Dublin and Kerry.
"We had a down week last week after the hectic few weeks since the turn of the year with the FBD and the intense training, but we'll be back at it next Saturday," the Salthill/Knocknacarra clubman said.
"We have four big games then after that; I suppose you can't ask for more, huge games against the four biggest teams in the country in four weeks. We'll soon see where we stand in regards to the league, but going into the championship those tough games will stand to us."
