In the Walsh Cup Shield, GMIT were on the receiving end of an almighty backlash from All-Ireland champions Kilkenny. Beaten by Offaly last weekend, the Cats bounced back by hammering the students on an 8-20 to 0-6 scoreline.
Dinny Cahill's Antrim edged out NUIG by 2-23 to 4-15, while Christy Ring Cup champions Carlow were 2-14 to 0-11 winners over UCD.
