Meehan's timely return

Galway's lethal forward Michael Meehan
Michael Meehan is expected to make his first appearance of the year for Galway in Sunday's FBD League clash with GMIT.
Meehan only turned 25 last month but on Sunday will begin his eighth campaign for the Tribesmen when he makes his return from a hamstring injury. The injury has sidelined the brilliant forward for the past few months, but he is expected to feature in the Moycullen fixture in what is a timely boost ahead of Sunday week's National League opener against Mayo.
New Galway manager Joe Kernan has also been boosted in the past week by the news that Padraic Joyce is expected to return to the squad much earlier than anticipated.
The former Footballer of the Year underwent surgery on an Achilles tendon injury before Christmas and was expected to miss most of the National League. But the veteran attacker is now hopeful of being back in time for Galway's third National League game against Cork in early March.
Cormac Bane and Damien Dunleavy are also recovering from injuries, but defender Darren Mullahy is set to miss the National League with a broken collarbone.
