Leitir Mor set for provincial showdown
13 November 2009Naomh Eanna Leitir Mor will aim for provincial glory this Sunday when they take on Mayo champions Westport in the Connacht club intermediate football championship final.
The south Connemara side came through an impressive championship campaign in Galway and endured a testing provincial semi-final, where they overcame Leitrim holders Cloone on a score-line of 1-8 to 1-7 in a fiercely competed encounter.
The Galway men were made pay a high price for that victory as full-back Padraic Mac An Riogh suffered a broken jaw which sees him ruled out for this Sunday's clash
Westport have also impressed on route to this final with a couple of strong county championship displays under their belts, as well as a hard earned victory over Sligo side Geevagh.
Now these two sides are set to meet head on with provincial glory and a place in the last four of the All-Ireland series at stake, when they renew the Galway and Mayo rivalry on Sunday, November 15, at Tuam Stadium, where throw-in is scheduled for 2.00pm.
