Fahy's minors face Mayo

June 26, 2009
Galway minor football manager Gerry Fahy leads his side into Connacht semi-final battle with Mayo at Markievicz Park on Sunday (12:10). Both sides have had their preparations for this game disrupted by the Leaving Cert, but such is the nature of intercounty minor football. Mayo are the provincial holders and they haven't played in this year's competition so far. The Tribesboys, on the other hand, accounted for Sligo six weeks ago and the manager hopes that test will have brought his team on: "Mayo are a formidable side and they were unlucky not to win the All-Ireland last year. "We had a very tough game against Sligo. They were strong physically and up until we got the goal it was a right old battle. "We expect the same on Sunday and hopefully the Sligo match will stand to us. But it was before the Leaving Cert and I think that is a huge factor."
