The late Fr Peter Tierney

Galway football is in mourning following the death of Milltown native Fr Peter Tierney.
Fr Tierney won a county SFC medal with Dunmore MacHales in 1953 and was an older brother of Noel Tierney from Galway's All-Ireland three-in-a-row side of the mid-sixties.
Regarded as one of the outstanding midfielders in Galway in the early-to-mid '50s, he was a missionary priest who subsequently spent most of his life in Korea.
Fr Peter Tierney was laid to rest on Monday at St Columban's, Dalgan Park, Navan, County Meath.
