Clubs to discuss competitions revamp

November 28, 2008
Galway's clubs are set to discuss plans to revamp the county's football league and championships. The proposals - which include reducing the number of senior clubs in Galway by four - will be debated at the County Board AGM on Monday, December 1. It's being suggested that the SFC would be more competitive if the number of participating clubs was reduced from 20 to 16. County secretary Seamus O'Grady argues: "Some of the senior clubs in the county are not up to senior standard. "There are about three or four teams not up to senior standard and they are putting all their emphasis on the league and staying up. This is affecting the competitiveness of the championship."
