Backroom team impressed Galway chiefs

John McIntyre
Galway County Board chairman Miko Ryan has admitted that the strength of new manager John McIntyre's management team played a part in the decision to appoint the Tipperary native.
McIntyre was appointed manager last Tuesday night after interviews had taken place with eight candidates and he begins his new role with immediate effect.
The former Offaly manager has brought in former senior hurler Joe Connolly, ex-minor manager John Hardiman and John Moylan as selectors and Ryan revealed that this was a stroke of genius by the former Tipp hurler.
"He did a good presentation. Everybody knows Joe Connolly. He might not have that much experience of training teams, but he'd be a big asset to any backroom team, and you cannot question John Hardiman or John Moylan. They have proved it at minor level."
