McIntyre keen to get started
November 21, 2008
New Galway hurling manager John McIntyre can't wait to get started and has revealed that trials will be held over the coming weeks as he bids to put a squad in place.
McIntyre beat off competition from Michael Bond and Noel Lane to get the job of taking over from Ger Loughnane and the Tipperary native has vowed to leave no stone unturned in their quest for All-Ireland glory.
"It's a hug challenge, but we know what's ahead of us," said McIntyre. "We have a lot of plans for the Galway senior hurling squad, but they will be the first to hear about them. We are hoping to have the new panel up and running by early December."
McIntyre had run for the position on two previous occasions in the early '90's, but was unsuccessful both times. However, the Galway county board believe that he is the right man for the job this time around.
