Fermanagh, 3 gls. 14 pts; Donegal, 3 gls. 18 pts.

Despite, almost being steamrolled by an obviously dominated Donegal side, who rattled in two goals and five unanswered points in this game's early first quarter. The host Fermanagh side did recover their scoring elan and reduced the half margin to 6 points. Scanning the park's scoreboard at half time, which telling revealed that that they Tirconnell lads were ahead, with dominant score of 2 goals 11 points to a more modest 10-point score for they Fermanagh hosts. A notable feature of this matches' resumption was the dual goal scoring triumph by the Corrigan brothers Sean and Ciaran in the opening minutes. Mid-fielder Ryan Bogue, with his highly individual side-line pucks, which gained his side a valuable three points. This was and solid scoring base for the Fermanagh attack to add a further 1 goal 4 four points, by the game's end. However, their Donegal opponents had still too much hurling scoring skill, and eventual ran out comfortable four point winners.

The Match-the opening half

Within ten disastrous minutes of the games beginning for they Fermanagh hosts conceded, a near disastrous a score of 2 goals 5 points. Danny Cullen lead off for the Donegal lads with a personally tally of 1 goal 1 point. Then his team mate Nial Cleary, weighed with 3 points. Finally Bernard Laverty had an individual point. Then conclude the scoring rout Lee Henderson, fired home his side's second goal from play. Eventually, with the opening quarter ending, Fermanagh's right full forward Sean Corrigan clipped over his and his side's first two points from a point and play. With the Fermanagh gaming a side line puck, which was struck magnificently by their centre field player Ryan Bogue. The latter score proved beyond doubt that game's opening quarters Donegal scoring rout was now being halted. Sean Corrigan helped his side's rejenuvation, with a further two points from a free and from play. However, with just over five minutes to the matches' interval, Donegal's Danny Cullen popped over his sides ninth point from frees. THE latter score was neatly answered by a second side line score by Ryan Bogue. Closure now to the matches half time Sean Corrigan stepped forward once more for his side's seventh point from play. The latter Fermanagh score was quickly answered by a Lee Henderson point from a free. Yet again the Ernesiders Corrigan brothers with their deadly scoring accuracy, who completed their team's opening half of scores.

Second half - Fermanagh Strike Back!

In almost second half repeat the Fermanagh scoring attack of the Corrigan brothers of Ciaran, banged home the first of two magnificently taken morale boosting goals for the host's side. Moments later the latter's big brother Sean hammered home his side's second goal, also from play. The latter player more modestly player, now more modestly clipped over his side's eleventh point from a free. However the latter score was replied by a twelfth point for Donegal by Sean McVeigh. Then in a magnificently reply Fermanagh's Ryan Bogue completed his third point scoring exercise from the side-line. However in a massive scoring retaliation Tirconnel's Paddy Hannigan completed his side's major scoring exercise, with a third and last goal for the Donegal visitors. The now completely rejuvenated Fermanagh side had their major score, next, when their captain Declan McGarry flew through the Donegal lines to also complete his side's scoring for the afternoon. The matches' score was now a competitive 3 goals 13 points for the hosts to 3 goals 14 points for the Donegal visitors. With less than ten minutes to the end of the match Fermanagh's Sean Corrigan and Donegal's Lee Henderson exchanged final points. Whilst the seventeen strong Fermanagh hurling panel overcame the original first half Donegal scoring rout and then battled back to be narrowly defeated by four point margin, pre-game preparations in future years needed to be sorted out. However the Fermanagh side did justice side by both fielding a team and coming back to within a point to the winning Tirconnel team.
