Goan always believed

November 27, 2015

Enniskillen Gaels manager Shane Goan has stressed that he always believed that the club had what it takes to win a championship.

Not only did the win the county intermediate title, but they also captured promotion to Division One in the league.

Many have been surprised by their success this year, but Goan told the Fermanagh Herald that he knew the side just needed to be guided in the right direction in order to fulfil their potential.

"I have been of the opinion for several seasons that here in the club we had a panel of players who simply underachieved," said Goan.

"It was a question of knuckling down and giving a commitment to the cause." He added: "I can't praise highly enough the effort that has been put in. They have taken each game at a time and since those early defeats we have gone unbeaten in the league."
