Laois manager Tomas O Flatharta breathed a sigh of relief when the final whistle was sounded today's All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Fermanagh.

The O'Moore County live to tell the tale after securing a one-point victory over the Ernesiders and, afterwards, the Kerry native told Midlands 103 Sport: "It's championship football, it's knock-out.

"There's no safety net in these things, you have to go for it and go for it. We knew that a northern team wouldn't come easy and that they would come with a big fight and they did.

"If you look at the game, in the first half I thought we had most of the play, a lot of attempts but our shooting let us down really in the first half.

"We should have won the game in the first half really but then Fermanagh went two points ahead in the second-half.

"I think the lads showed a lot of character again. They fought and fought, kept driving forward and our shooting was better in the second-half.

"We're delighted to be going through to the next round."
