Peter Canavan was surprisingly upbeat after Fermanagh's disappointing defeat to Wicklow in Saturday's Allianz Football League Division 4 final.
The Erne County's 100 per cent league record was ended by a rampant Wicklow team who restricted the losers to just two points in the second half.
"I will take a lot of positives out of it," was the Fermanagh manager's reaction to the Croke Park defeat.
"There were various things that worked and things I'm pleased about, there are other aspects we need to brush up on. In terms of positives, we should learn a lot. The game was played at a good pace and a good intensity and it was a very worthwhile experience.
"A number of them were out on their feet in the last five minutes, and they weren't prior to this. So this is a good wake-up call before championship."
He added: "The boys are very disappointed because they worked very hard in the league and we were hoping to seal the deal today and wrap it up with a good performance. I know they are hurting now, losing in Croke Park, but everybody has to do that from time to time and I'm hoping this will whet their appetite more."
