Shane McCabe could yet feature in Fermanagh's 2012 championship team.

McCabe has opted out of the Erne County panel since 2008 and is under contract with Carling Premiership soccer club Portadown. But Fermanagh team spokesman Ger Treacy suggests in the Irish News that he could be lured back into the fold by manager Peter Canavan - though he won't feature in the national football league:

"Shane is tied to Portadown until the end of May and we'll review the situation then. He's a great player and we'd love to have him but he'll not be playing national league, that's for sure.

"When we held the trials we left no door closed, and that included talking to Shane McCabe, but that's as far as it goes at the moment.

"Peter has spoken to all the players. When Shane's soccer commitments are over, we'll have a chat with him then." Tweet
