League and championship format unchanged

January 20, 2012
A proposal from Teemore Shamrocks to change the league and championship formats in Fermanagh was defeated at last Monday night's county board meeting.

The Shamrocks had proposed to increase the number of teams competing in the senior football championship to 14 and are also called for an overhaul of the league structure. They proposed that the 14 teams be divided up into two divisions of seven - Divisions 1A and 1B - for league purposes.

But the motion was heavily defeated, which means the senior championship will continue to be made up of 12 teams and eight in the intermediate.
