New championship format proposed
January 13, 2012
Next Monday's county board meeting will discuss a proposal from Teemore Shamrocks seeking changes to the league and championship formats in Fermanagh.
The Shamrocks propose to increase the number of teams competing in the senior football championship to 14 and are also calling for an overhaul of the league structure. They are proposing that the 14 teams be divided up into two divisions of seven - Divisions 1A and 1B -for league purposes.
Currently, 12 teams compete in the senior championship and it remains to be seen if delegates will approve adding two more at the expense of the intermediate championship.
