Board to appoint O'Rourke's replacement soon

July 30, 2010
The Fermanagh county board has stated that it will look to appoint Malachy O'Rourke's successor "as soon as possible".

The Derrylin man stepped down from his post last week after three years in charge, the first of which saw him lead the Ernesiders to the 2008 Ulster SFC final which they lost to Armagh after a replay.

The county board's management committee are expected to meet soon to finalise the format of their search for O'Rourke's replacement.

However, PRO Deirdre Donnelly stated that they will "not be rushed into a decision but will look to have it filled as soon as is possible."

Current Under 21 manager Darren Chapman has emerged as the front-runner for the job, while Sean Maguire and Syl Mulrone have also been linked with the position.
