Change proposed to SFC final date

March 08, 2010
A proposal has been made to have this year's Fermanagh senior football final date changed to the Sunday after the All-Ireland SFC final.

As things stand, the draft fixture programme from the CCC has the game scheduled for October 3, but Derrygonnelly delegate Hugh Kelly proposed at last Monday night's meeting of the county board to have the fixture brought forward by a week to be played on September 26.

He stated that this date would be ideal so as there would be no distraction of league games for the teams competing in the final and he urged that clubs be further consulted before a decision on the matter was taken.

CCC chairman Patsy Dolan said the final date was not set in stone and it was agreed that the matter would be looked at again before a final decision was taken.
