Fermanagh boss hails McBride input
February 07, 2010
Malachy O'Rourke has been delighted with Johnny McBride's contribution to the Fermanagh set-up since becoming a selector.
The former Derry star will join O'Rourke on the sideline in Tullamore this afternoon for the Erne County's National League opener against Offaly.
"I knew Johnny from our days at the Loup (who O'Rourke managed to an Ulster club title in 2003) and I knew what type of figure he was and what he would bring to us," the Fermanagh boss said.
"He's a great leader. He's very single-minded and a very driven character and we felt, after Paul Coyle wasn't able to give the commitment, that we needed a fresh voice, and Johnny was the one man we wanted.
"He's really got stuck into the role. He's not the type of character who will stand on the sidelines and observe from a distance. He wants to get in the middle of it and the boys are responding really well to him."
