Tyrone's Martin Penrose gets out ahead of Fermanagh's Michael Jones
Tyrone 1-20 Fermanagh 1-8 Tommy McGuigan bagged 1-6 as Tyrone maintained their impressive early season form with an emphatic victory over Fermanagh in last night's Barrett Sportslighting McKenna Cup semi-final at Healy Park. Mickey Harte's experimental side have been scoring for fun in recent weeks, and it was more of the same last night as they cruised to a final showdown with Donegal on Saturday night. McGuigan was in sparkling form, particularly in the first half when he fired over six points, including a brilliant double from play. The Red Hands had established a 0-5 to 0-2 lead by the 15th minute, with Ciaran Flaherty and Ryan Jones replying for Fermanagh. But the home side never let up and with Peter Harte, Aidan Cassidy, Stephen O'Neill, Kyle Coney and Martin Penrose all finding the target, they took a 0-13 to 0-5 lead into the break. Four Stephen O'Neill points extended Tyrone's lead in the third quarter and when McGuigan slotted home a 57th minute to put their lead out to 14 points, they were home and hosed. Damien Kelly netted late on for Fermanagh, but it was no more than a consolation score.
