McKenna Cup: Fermanagh hang on

January 21, 2010
Fermanagh 1-13 UUJ 1-12 Fermanagh made it two wins from two in the McKenna Cup when they edged out UUJ in last night's clash at Brewster Park. Despite being the better team for long periods, Malachy O'Rourke's men had to withstand a late rally from the students. Leading by two points at half-time, the winners extended their advantage to six early in the second half when corner back John Woods' second point was followed by a Damien Kelly goal. But Jordanstown refused to wilt and hit back immediately with a goal from Peter Hughes. A flurry of points from Kelly, James Sherry and Daryl Keenan put the home side back in control, but three points from substitute John Clarke and a brace from Jason McAnulla in the final 10 minutes left them hanging on for the win.
