Keenan relishing new role

Fermanagh's Ryan Keenan
Ryan Keenan is enjoying his new role of wing back on the Fermanagh team. A regular fixture in the Erne County attack in recent years, Keenan made the switch in last Sunday's McKenna Cup victory over Monaghan and the move could become a permanent one in the coming weeks. "It is a new position, just to sort of freshen things up," he said. Explaining how the switch came about, he added: "We (Malachy O'Rourke and him) came to the conclusion last year that things weren't really working out in the forward line. "I think I'm going to get a couple of games there anyway to see how it goes and take it from there. When we came back into the trials at the start of the year, they put into that role. "Personally, things haven't gone that well since the Ulster final in 2008. I just haven't been playing as well, so it was a case of looking at the whole picture, getting as fit as I could and taking on this new role. "There's not that much difference, believe it or not, between half back and the role you have in the half forward line. I enjoyed it on Sunday. But it's only one day and it's only the McKenna Cup. It will be different in the league, that's a bigger test."
