O'Rourke explains Gallagher return

November 14, 2008
Fermanagh manager Malachy O'Rourke has explained the circumstances under which former talisman Rory Gallagher was invited back into the Erne County fold. The Dublin-based player has provisionally returned to the squad for trials and will be treated no differently to anybody else, despite his outstanding credentials: "We have about 35 from last year's panel and added to that is around 15 to 20 other guys. Rory expressed an interest in playing and we said there was no problem coming along for a trial and, in that sense, he will be treated no differently to anybody else who had a trial. "We will assess things after the second trial but it was important that we got a look at some new players who were not involved last year. "It is true to say that Rory has not played at this level for a very long time but still that does not mean we should not have a look at him."
