FL2: Fermanagh comeback floors Rossies

February 02, 2020

Ryan McMenamin's Fermanagh are off the mark in Division 2.

Fermanagh 0-13

Roscommon 0-12

Ryan McMenamin celebrated his first win as Fermanagh manager after a marvellous second half comeback against Roscommon.

The Erne County were staring at their second Allianz Football League Division 2 defeat on the bounce when they trailed the Connacht champions by 0-3 to 0-9 at half-time in Brewster Park, but in a dramatic second half, six points from Conall Jones helped them to take the lead, only for Roscommon to edge back in front.

However, the hosts weren't to be denied as Ciaran Corrigan scored a late winner which leaves the Rossies still searching for their first win after drawing with Laois in the opening round.

Anthony Cunningham's men stormed into an early 0-5 to 0-0 lead with Cian McKeon registering their first two points. Fermanagh eventually got motoring with three unanswered scores from Eoin Donnelly, Aidan Breen and Corrigan before the visitors seized control once again. Evan McGrath, Niall Kilroy, McKeon and Donie Smith were all on target as they took a six-point lead into the break.

But Fermanagh turned the game on its head after the restart by scoring eight of the first nine points to hit the front for the first time. Jones notched 0-6 during this golden spell, with Hubert Darcy and Ultan Kelm also splitting the posts.

Fintan Cregg brought the Rossies level before McKeon restored their lead. But with time running out, Jones restored parity before Corrigan secured a crucial victory for the Ulster side who lost to Kildare in the first round.
