Ronan Sweeney is travelling to Croke Park to support Kildare 'in hope more than expectation' this Sunday.

The former Lilywhite footballer, who is Sligo's current coach, says his former team-mates have to concentrate on winning their individual battles if they are to have any chance of reversing the recent trend of heavy defeats against Dublin.

"I'm sure there's probably not many teams outside Kerry, Donegal and Mayo that wouldn't be going up to Croke Park to play Dublin that wouldn't have someting in the back of their mind, or not already taking a beating off them," he pointed out to The Irish Daily Star.

"Most teams that have played them a couple of times have been beaten out the gate at least once.

"But it could be there but you just have to get that out of your head and concentrate on your immediate marker and outwork him.

"Then hopefully your teammates can do the same and, you never know, put doubt in their minds.

"I'm going up in hope more than expectation, being realistic. You never know."
