Dublin outscored Galway by 0-13 to 0-5 in the second half at Parnell Park to register their third win in Division 1A and secure a quarter-final meeting with Limerick.

Man of the match Mark Schutte and Danny Sutcliffe scored 0-5 and 0-4 respectively from play as the Metropolitans recovered from a two-point half-time deficit to turn in an impressive performance. Galway, who will face Division 1B champions Waterford in the quarter-final, only avoided the relegation playoff by virtue of the head-to-head rule.

The Tribesmen led by 2-9 to 0-13 at half-time thanks to goals from Cathal Mannion and Joe Canning in the fourth and 28th minutes. With David Treacy and Danny Sutcliffe in fine scoring form, the hosts had regained parity by the 19th minute, 0-8 to 1-5.

Mannion and Canning bagged 1-2 each in the opening half, while Andy Smith and Aidan Harte weighed in with 0-3 from midfield.

There was only one team in it in the second half, however, as Dublin assumed control. Treacy and Mark Schutte had scores either side of a Canning effort before Treacy levelled proceedings, 0-16 to 2-10.

Treacy and Canning traded points before Ger Cunningham's side eased clear in the closing stages with scores from Treacy, Paul Ryan (a magnificent long-range free), Schutte and Sutcliffe.
