Ger Cunningham wasn't getting away after his reign as Dublin hurling manager got off to a dream start against Tipperary.

"It's a great start, but it's the first game of the season and we have Kilkenny next weekend," the former Cork All-Ireland winning goalkeeper noted.

"It gives us a big base to build on, but it's always the ultimate challenge going down to Nowlan Park. We saw what Kilkenny did to Cork last night.

"We have moved a few people around to see if we can help to develop the team and build a team and they all did well."

Cunningham made an impassioned plea to Dublin fans to get behind the hurlers after they were well outnumbered by their Tipperary counterparts in Parnell Park.

"It's always nice to win your home games and it hopefully sends out a message to the Dublin fans to come and support their team," he added.
