Tomas Brady doesn't regret leaving the Dublin hurlers to join forces with Jim Gavin's football squad.

The defender switched codes in October, 2012, having featured at full back for the Metropolitan small ball men for six years. The following year, the Dubs won the Leinster SHC while he missed out on the Leinster and All-Ireland SFC successes due to a cruciate ligament injury sustained in June.

"It was great seeing the hurlers achieve last year," states in The Irish Daily Mirror. I love both sports. It was something I always wanted to do. At the time it was a decision I felt was right and I'm happy with that.

"They don't need me to say how disappointed they would be after the Leinster final two weeks ago. I know there's very strong characters within the squad there, they will bounce back.

"You take the example of Clare last year, they didn't win their provincial championship but they went on to win the All-Ireland. I have no doubt there's plenty of hurling left in the lads this summer.

"Probably at that stage, it was now or never. It was just a decision I made.

"Dublin are lucky that there are teams in both codes that are consistently challenging for honours and I'm just lucky to be able to represent them in both codes."
