Laois ended a 10-year wait for a victory in the Bord Gais Leinster U21HC in sensational fashion when they stunned holders Dublin at O'Moore Park last night.

Coming just four days after their seniors were hammered by the Metropolitans, the win couldn't have been more timely for the O'Moore County who beat secured a first victory over Dublin in the grade in 31 years thanks to substitute Ben Reddin's last-gasp goal.

Managed by former Kilkenny star John Henderson, Dublin were marginally the better team in the first half and led 0-10 to 0-8 at the break, though they might have been behind had goalkeeper Ger McManus not saved a 20th minute penalty.

John Hetherton's point had the visitors four points clear and seemingly on the road to victory after 42 minutes, but Laois hit back with a great goal from senior Neil Foyle before adding three unanswered points.

In a dramatic finale, Foyle edged the hosts in front before Sutcliffe was dispossessed when an equaliser appeared to be on. From the resultant attack, Reddin scored the clinching goal to send the small home crowd into raptures.
