Referee to get match ball from abseilers
February 03, 2012
The 2012 Allianz Football League swings into life tomorrow evening with a host of evening games around the country and a special Croke Park double header featuring Dublin and Kerry and Kildare and Tyrone.
The honour of starting this year's Allianz campaign goes to Kildare and Tyrone who meet at 5.00pm at GAA headquarters before the eagerly awaited repeat of last year's All-Ireland final takes place at 7.15pm. Reigning All-Ireland champions Dublin return for the first time to the scene of last September's famous last gasp win over old rivals Kerry looking to embark on a run that might see them go one better than last year's final reversal to Cork.
A night of special entertainment has been planned to mark the start of the Spring Series with the 'Rubberbandits' appearing between the two games.
A special light and pyrotechnic show has also been organised to mark the arrival of Dublin and Kerry onto the field (weather dependent) and a number of abseilers will also be on hand to deliver the match ball to referee Maurice Deegan from the top of the Hogan Stand.
Tickets are still available for tomorrow's games priced at €13 for adults and €5 for children. A three match Spring Series package is also available for €30 (adults) and €10 (children).
In all there are six games tomorrow evening, including the two at Croke Park.
In other action Laois meet Mayo, Down face Donegal, Meath host Monaghan and Antrim are home against Sligo.
