Dublin hurler Shane Durkin wants to win THIS YEAR's All-Ireland SHC.

While the Metropolitans' strategic Blue Wave plan is to collect a Liam MacCarthy Cup every five years, Ballyboden St Enda's clubman Durkin says in the Irish Sun that there is no time like the present:

"We want it now. There is no point in saying we want an All-Ireland in the next three years or the next five years.

"We want it in 2012. We are not getting up early in the morning and we are not making all these sacrifices to finish second best.

"January is about fitness and getting your touch right. We are at least as fit now as we were this time last year.

"It is something we wanted to build on because last year we came within ten minutes of an All-Ireland final."

Dublin's first competitive game of the year is against Laois in the Walsh Cup at Rathdowney on Sunday.
