Work-rate pleases Gilroy

Dublin manager Pat Gilroy and his charges
Pat Gilroy expressed satisfaction with Dublin's comfortable victory over UCD on Saturday night.

The All-Ireland champions' 4-14 to 0-12 win earned them an O'Byrne Cup semi-final showdown with holders Kildare next Sunday, which is expected to draw a bumper crowd to Newbridge.

"We're getting back into the swing of things properly now," the Dublin manager said contently.

"Our shooting and our ball handling wasn't great, but you'd expect that at this time of year. But the effort and the application was great. We conceded more than I would have liked, but all things considered I was happy enough with the performance.

"We've prepared this year for the league just like we have for the last three. We're trying to be in the best shape we can for it and that's required a huge effort because it does come at you very quickly.

"By the middle of March, we'll know how we're going, but we will be taking the league very seriously."
