Sports teams and enthusiasts in Dublin will be delighted to know that Clontarf has a new sports facility. Dublin's Lord Mayor Gerry Breen officially opens Dublin City Council's Clontarf Road Sports Pitches at 12 noon on Thursday 28th April.

The all-weather, synthetic playing pitches include Dublin's first full sized GAA pitch, a full sized rugby / soccer pitch and a seven-a-side pitch. The complex also includes a hurling wall, floodlighting, new changing rooms and shower facilities.

Lord Mayor Breen says "This fantastic sports ground includes the first full-sized public GAA synthetic pitch in Dublin. This is great news for teams playing Gaelic football and hurling as it allows them to train in almost any type of weather. The soccer pitches are also being used for Leinster League fixtures and the seven-a-side pitch can be booked by groups having a casual game of soccer.

"Dublin City Council worked closely with the GAA, the Dublin County Board and the Department of Sports, Tourism and Recreation to deliver the excellent facility that I am very pleased to open officially today.
