Corcoran keen for Daly to stay on

Niall Corcoran believes that Anthony Daly must stay on as Dublin hurling manager if the capital men are to make further strides in the small ball game.

Daly is expected to make a decision on his future within the next week and Corcoran will be hoping that it's one that sees the Clare native stay with the team for at least another year.

"From a player's point of view, we'd love to keep him on. The last couple of years he's really brought this panel of players on," said Corcoran.

"Fair enough, against Antrim we went out of the championship very tamely, but we can learn from that and we all think he's the man to take us on. It'd be a huge thing for us."

On his side's All-Ireland SHC qualifier defeat to Antrim, the Sky Blues defender admitted that the team may have had one eye on the prospect of a quarter-final meeting with Cork.

"Subconsciously, maybe we just thought 'we'll get over this game and get ready for Cork' and it cost us," he said.

"When the game is going away from you like against Antrim, leaders do step up and unfortunately we didn't have enough of them that day so that's something that we're really going to have to look at."
