Crokes sweating on Kavanagh

Brian Kavanagh is in a race against time to be fit for Kilmacud Crokes' Leinster club football final showdown with Rhode on Sunday. The Longford scoring machine has been suffering from the 'flu in recent days and has been taking medication, but the Dublin champions are hoping that he will recover in time for the Parnell Park fixture. Crokes have been boosted by the return of defender Cian O'Sullivan from suspension. O'Sullivan returned from a four-week ban in last weekend's Dublin senior league game against Na Fianna, but may find it difficult to reclaim his place in a defence which gave little away against Navan O'Mahony's. "We felt that his month's suspension was very harsh," Crokes manager Paddy Carr said. "But he's very much back in the frame now, and he gives us an extra dimension. He had a fabulous championship. He's getting better and better. "He'll keep on improving and his game will develop even more in the coming years. He's very much a plus for us going forward."
