McGrath keen to honour Murphy's memory

December 10, 2016

Danny Murphy RIP.

Peter McGrath says both the Ulster football and hurling teams will be doing their best to honour Danny Murphy's memory by winning an inter-provincial double.

The former Ulster Council secretary died earlier this week at the age of 67 and fellow Down man McGrath said in the Belfast Telegraph: "We will have Danny in our thoughts. He played a big part in keeping Ulster to the fore both on and off the field of play down through the years.

"It would be great if we could land a double win to honour his memory. He gave a lot to Ulster, after all."

McGrath's Ulster charges take on Munster in the second of the inter-provincial football semi-finals at Parnell Park tomorrow and he's confident they will give a good account of themselves.

"When you are talking about players like Peter Harte, Tiernan McCann, Charlie Vernon, Niall McKeever, Tomas Corrigan and of course Eoin Donnelly (team captain), you are referencing real quality.

"I know that they and all the rest of the players are proud to be involved in this Ulster squad and that means I can depend on them to give their best."
