"It's a long day for Down fans"

Jim McCorry believes travelling supporters weren't considered when Down's All-Ireland football qualifier against Wexford was fixed for 6.30pm on Saturday.

The Mournemen face a long trip to Innovate Wexford Park, but whatever about the supporters, McCorry insists the late throw-in won't impact on his side's preparations.

"It is a long day for fans," the manager noted in the Newry Democrat.

"Travelling back is a problem for everybody, especially if the game goes to extra-time but it is not a problem from a team point of view as we will be down there early and we will have plenty of time to prepare."

McCorry feels Down have regrouped well following their last-gasp loss to Derry in the Ulster SFC quarter-final.

"Confidence was low as we were obviously disappointed with the result against Derry," he said.

"We know where we lost that game and that was our scoring ratio. Particularly in the first half we didn't play the way we planned to or certainly how we played our in-house games.

"Confidence levels are back up again and the guys are really looking forward to the game on Saturday."

The Armagh added: "It is win or go home because you don't get another chance after this. Our one chance in Ulster left us that day.

"Wexford will be a tough task because they are a big physical side and they will be looking a backlash after the way they lost their game (to Westmeath) as they were two points up with seven minutes to go and we will see how that pans out on Saturday night."
