Carryduff GAC notes

Question of Sport a roaring success
Punters filled the Wellington Park Hotel for Carryduff GAC's Question of Sport on Friday night and enjoyed a great night's craic. The event which supported DeterMND, combatting Motor Neurone Disease was a huge success. Team captain John Mullane (Waterford) was ably assisted by Donal Óg Cussack (Cork) and Conor Gorm;ey (Tyrone) and was determined to make sure his team retained the title he had claimed at last year's inaugural event. However, Cork giant Seán Óg Ó hAilpín and Marty Clarke (Down) and Ryan McMenamin (Tyrone) gave them a great run for their money.
Audience participation was to the fore; Seán Óg called on Mary Early to assist gain his team some points in the cycle sprint challenge but she only finished a split second in front of Sinead Blaney. The tension really gathered when Seán Óg's team scored a perfect finish in the leaderboard round and the contest went right to the wire in the final quick-fire general sporting knowledge round.
The celebrity competitors mingle with the audience taking time to provide autographs and pose for photographs after the contest. Thanks to all the competitors, all our sponsors and everyone who helped make the event such a success.

Carryduff got their ACPRFL campaign off to a positive start with an away victory against Liatroim Fontenoys. The game was played in difficult wet and windy conditions but both teams concentrated their efforts and served up an entertaining contest in spite of the conditions.  Ruairi Boyle's first half goal proved decisive for Carryduff and gave them a three point cushion at the break on a scoreline of 1-03 to 0-03.
Liatroim levelled the game within the first five minutes of the second half but points from Conor Rooney, Conall Early (free) and Neil McGowan gave Carryduff the initiative again.

Connolly Cup (Ballykinlar)
In the clíched 'game of two halves' Carryduff and Bosco played out an entertaining draw in Ballykinlar's Connolly Cup Competition. With a strong breeze blowing directly down the pitch, Bosco racked up five points before Carryduff managed their first score. Michael McGrath and Tiernan McMeel brought Carryduff back into the contest but Bosco added another three points in a four minute period. Peter Lavery's two scores in the 20th and 21st minutes brought Carryduff within four points of Bosco but a further three points stretched Bosco's lead. Shea Reilly's point in the dying moments of the first half left Carryduff trailing by six points at the break as Bosco led 0-11 to0-05.
With the breeze now to their backs Carryduff opened brightly with two points from James Guinness and a well-finished goal from Tiernan McMeel bringing them to within a point of Bosco. Conor McCullough's point levelled affairs and thereafter the game was one of nip-and-tuck as the sides traded points as the tempo increased. James Guinness kicked three further points from play in the remainder of the half as Bosco worked hard to respond.
It looked as if Shea Reilly's 28th minute point may have brought the result carryduff's way but a Bosco point in the final moments of the game resulted in a draw;-
Bosco 0-15  Carryduff 1-12
The Carryduff team was;- Mark Hynes, James Woods, Conoe cassidy, Mark morris,
