Rogers not losing hope

Down's Ambrose Rogers
Ambrose Rogers is still believed to be in with a chance of playing in this Sunday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Kildare.

Fears were that the Down captain was set for a lengthily stint on the sidelines after suffering injury during a game with his native Longstone, but after seeing a specialist it was confirmed the he had only picked up a strain of his cruciate knee ligament.

It leaves Rogers with a similar chance of featuring in Sunday's showdown at Croke Park as counter-part Dermot Earley, who was wrongly reported to have suffered cruciate ligament damage which forced him to limp off in Kildare's quarter-final victory over Meath.

"Ambrose is not losing hope and there is a chance he will play but James is planning without him," confirmed Down PRO Ronan McMahon.
