Defib Training for Team Mentors
Clonduff is recommending that at least one member of each management team from Seniors right down to U8s in Football, Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Football and Handball undertakes basic training in the use of the Defibulator which is held in the Club and which is available for every training session and every game. Please God it won't ever happen but if it did how you would feel if it was required on your watch and you didn't know where it was or how to operate it. Management teams should nominate at least one member and let the Club Secretary, Anita Brannigan, know as soon as possible so that this will be in place before the new playing season gets under way. Contact Anita on 02840638237 / 07720062073 or email [email protected]
Scór Sinsear
Clonduff will have representatives in six of the eight competitions in the Scór Sinsear County Finals in Saval Sports and Leisure Complex next Sunday 28th February following some wonderful performances in the South Down Final on Sunday 21st February in the same venue. The level of competition and the standard of entertainment was phenomenal and those not qualifying can count themselves unlucky but in very good company.
In front of a packed house and a very enthusiastic audience Clonduff mixed Set Dancing team and the Quiz team won their respective competitions to become South Down Champions. The runners-up in each competition also qualify for the County Final and those representing Clonduff will be: Colleen Walls (Solo Singing), Sean Downey (Recitation), the Ceili Dancing team and the Novelty Act. The all girls Set Dancing team and the Ballad group just lost out on qualification by coming a close third in their competitions.
Clonduff also picked up the Peter Keenan Memorial Trophy for the best overall South Down Club in support and promotion of both Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsear which is testimony to the hard work and commitment of the Clonduff Cultural Committee.

2010 National Youth Forum in Croke Park
Niomhi Murray and Katherine Milligan were among the 9-strong youth delegation that travelled to Croke Park on Saturday 20th February for the National Youth Forum which was attended by some 300 young people aged 16-20 years from throughout the country. The young people were transported to and from the event and were accompanied by County Youth Officer, Sean McCashin. Christy Cooney, the National President of the GAA addressed the young people and was in attendance throughout the day for the workshops and discussion groups.
The three priorities for the forum were,
1. To bring together the broadest representation of members aged 16-20 from around the Association to share their stories, idea and ambitions for our clubs and the GAA of the future.
2. To discover what they believe to be the best practices, strengths and resources of the GAA in order to understand the positive core on which the GAA has been built as seen and experienced by the young attendees
3. To collectively imagine and envision the best possible future for the GAA in terms of:
∑ More enjoyable experience playing and preparing for our games
∑ The role of our clubs in our community
∑ Our games as events, a place to go, an occasion - at club and county level
∑ How to make the best of technology and communications
∑ Enjoying being involved in the GAA as volunteers in any role
∑ Making our club, our Association more attractive to those currently involved
∑ Build the reputation and Brand of the GAA
∑ Our games internationally

Football
Clonduff's second home game in the Ulster League v Castlerahan, Cavan fell foul of the weather on Sunday and will be refixed by The Ulster Council. The pitch was under five inches of snow.

Well done to the U21 county footballers who have qualified for the final of the Shamrock cup tournament for the second year in succession after winning their semi-final against Antrim at Toome on Saturday. Well done to Darren O'Hagan, Paul McPolin, Arthur McConville who were part of the panel on Saturday. Down will now play Monahan in the final of the Shamrock cup at Cremartin on Sunday throw in 2-00pm.

Handball
Ulster Juvenile Quarter Finals
Conor Brown and Rian Branagan put on a great show in their Ulster Quarter Final on Sunday 21st February in Belfast but just lost out in the tie breaker having won the first game.
Shane Milligan's opponent was unable to travel from Cavan due to the snow. At this time we are unsure if the game will be re-scheduled or if Shane progresses to the Semi Final.
Paul Brady, three times World Champion for County Handball Awards
Saval Sports and Leisure Complex is the venue for the Down GAA Handball awards night this Friday night 26th February. It has been a hugely successful year for handball in County Down culminating in Lorraine Havern's recent success at the World Championships at Portland, Oregan. To celebrate, the Handball Board have arranged the awards night and buffet at Saval Sports and Leisure Complex and a big turnout is expected on the night.
Special Guest will be Cavan ace, three times World Champion, Mullahoran man - Paul Brady. Sure of a big Down welcome, Paul is of the Gunner Brady footballing dynasty from the Breffni County. It is a tremendous boost for handball in County Down to have Paul present County Medals to our local winners. He will also answer any questions in a short question and answer session on the night. National Director of GAA Handball Chris Curran from Tyrone will also present awards on the night.
The buffet will start at 8 p.m. Sharp and awards will be given to all Senior and Juveniles immediately after. Entertainment will be provided in the Social Club. Tickets are £4.00 payable at the door.
