GLASDRUMMAN GAC NOTES
The AGM took place on Sunday, 22nd November, in the clubrooms. The new Committee was voted in as follows; Joint Presidents - John Doran, Jimmy Higgins & Fr. Sean Gilmore, Chairman - John Brennan, Vice Chairman - Dan McCartan, Secretary - Liam Cunningham, Asst. Secretary - Art McCartan, Treasurer - Colette Burden, Asst. Treasurer - Jim Cunningham, PRO - Liam Cunningham, Registrar - John Brennan, Cultural Officer - Art McCartan, County Board Delegate - Dan McCartan, Players Representative - Declan Grant, Child Officer - Carol Murphy, Youth Officer - Gary McGreevy. Additional Members - Paul Kelly, Aileen Smith, Tony Bannon, Terry Joyce, Eddie Carr, Catherine Kelly, Annette Grant, John McDowell, Liam Murphy, Declan Grant, William James Smith, John Mallon, Jennifer McKay, Jason McAuley, Catherine Carr, Patrick Cunningham & Damien Grant. We wish them well for 2010. Our Celebrity Bainisteoir, Derek Davis, was unanimously given an honorary life membership of Glasdrumman GAC at the AGM. Also a new club badge, designed by Declan Grant, was passed at the AGM and will gradually replace the current badge through 2010.
The end of season do will take place this Saturday, 28th November, in Quinns Bar, Newcastle, starting at 8.30pm.
The Christmas Bazaar will take place on Sunday 29th November in the clubrooms, beginning at 2.00pm.
The juvenile end of year presentations were held in the clubrooms on Saturday. Down Senior player, Martin Clarke was the guest of honour and he had some encouraging words for the young players. There was a good turnout of parents and guardians which was also very encouraging to see. The main awards went to Shane Harrison (U16 Player of the Year), Neill Rodgers (U16 Most Improved) & Richard McAteer (U16 Trainer), James Cunningham (U14 Player of the Year), Ryan McKay (U14 Most Improved) & Conor McKay (U14 Trainer). Presentations were also made to the remaining U16s, U14s, U12s, U10s & U8s for their commitment through the year. Thanks to everyone who helped with the food & refreshments.
Ceili Classes as usual on Wednesday at 8.00pm in the clubrooms, everyone welcome.
Yoga classes every Tuesday 8.00pm in the clubrooms. Suitable for all ages and fitness / mobility levels. Cost per class is £4.00 per person, please bring along a blanket and cushion.
There will be a Drug & Alcohol Awareness programme in the clubrooms on Monday 23rd November at 7.00pm, for young people aged 9 upwards. It will last approximately one and half hours, everyone welcome. If anyone needs a lift please contact Annette, Catherine, or any Committee member.
If there are any girls or ladies out there not currently involved in club activities and would like to be, please get in touch with any of our Committee members. We would like to get more female involvement in GAA through football, rounders, Scor etc. if numbers are sufficient.
Club merchandise available for early Christmas orders, including club coats, £25 for junior sizes and £30 for adult sizes, hoodies, £25 for junior sizes and £30 for adult sizes and tee shirts £15 all sizes. Please contact Catherine Kelly for details of orders for Christmas.
If anyone would like to learn First Aid to cover any of the club activities please contact any of the Committee members by the end of October.
The club is collecting second hand clothes to raise funds, please forward all second hand clothes to Colette Burden or any Committee member. The final collection day will be Sunday 29th November at the Christmas bazaar.
Bingo as usual this Thursday at 8.30pm. The tote currently stands at £3,450.
