Baldwin holds camogie trials

November 28, 2008
Down senior camogie boss Joe Baldwin says that he hopes to have the best players in the county available to him for next season. The Mourne panel will begin its preparations for the coming season this weekend with the first of three full match trials taking place this Sunday at 11am in Portferry. "The idea for having trials is to give every senior camogie player in Down the chance to prove themselves over the next three weeks. There is a lot of talent in Down and these trials will give the players a chance to come to the fore," said Baldwin. Baldwin revealed that only 11 players out of last year's 26-women panel were playing senior league camogie in the county and that only two players from Ards are currently apart of the senior panel. "I sincerely hope that the clubs in Down encourage their players to participate in the trials so that the management team have the best players available for selection to pull on the red and black of Down." Down's National League campaign kicks off with a visit to Armagh on February 1.
