Mourne girl Michaela makes history

November 21, 2008
Michaela Downey is the toast of Down after becoming the county's first ladies football All Star. Michaela had been nominated for the prize previously but this year made the final XV on the back of some superb performances. Her county colleague Eliza Downey was also nominated this year, as Down ladies football got the recognition it deserves. Co-manager Paul McShane was delighted to see Michaela pick up the prestigious honour: "The All Star is much-deserved and a just reward for Michaela's many years of service to ladies football in the county. "Her overall performance - and that of the entire team - in 2008 was excellent and she has earned the plaudits that will now come her way."
