An Riocht * The Annual General Meeting of An Riocht took place before a good sized if quiet attendance on Thursday past and resulted in the following officials elected to run the Club for the coming year: Chairman James Cunningham, Treasurer Michael O'Rourke, Secretary Joseph Donnan, Registrar Sean Rogers, County Board Rep Sean O'Rourke, Camogie Patricia Clarke, Football Jim Allen, Insurance Daniel Sloan, Gift-Aid Paul Hennity, Finance & Social Anne McArdle, Grounds & Maintenance Nick Sloan, Development Raymond Sloan, Cultural Sophie Colgan. The positions of PRO & Recruitment were left vacant as no one present was willing to take them. The first meeting of the new Executive will be at 7.30pm on Monday 1st December and we will be attempting to co-opt people to these outstanding posts so if anyone is interested please let the chairman or secretary know. The duties of PRO are both internal and external communication, servicing the press and the website, posters, adverts, photos, projecting the Club in good light & the duties of the recruitment chair are to increase membership and usage of facilities by targeting parents and family members of players, former players, people new to the area, people from like minded organisations, unattached youth, the general public. * The Minor Camogie Championship Final is on 22nd November, while the Minor Camogie League Final date has still to be revealed. * The U11 footballers lost v Clonduff on Sunday by 1-12 to 1-6. The weather was kind and both teams served up a quality affair in which the visitors held the upper hand in the first half leading 0-6 to 0-1 at the break. In the second half An Riocht acquitted themselves much better. Team: Thomas Sloan, Conor Clarke, Ryan Mathews, Michael Harper, Jack Rafferty, Ronan White, Shane Cunningham, Deaglan Morgan 1-1, Andrew Harper, Marc Rooney, Aidan Sloan 0-1, Liam Rodgers, Stephen Flood, Darragh Campbell 0-4. Thanks to Denis Cotter for reefing the match. * An Riocht had five reps at the Ulster GAA Club & Community conference in Belfast and early reports are of a worthwhile day with lots of useful info picked up and helpful handouts brought back to the club. No doubt a full report will be forthcoming in the next few days. * An Riocht Annual Mass for Deceased Members & Friends is at Dunavil at 8pm on Friday 28th November. * The Down U18 Vocational schools football team trained at Dunavil on Saturday and most impressive it was. * At the U16 Camogie League Final in Ballykinlar An Riocht found Ballycran just too good for them but to their credit our team never gave up and played to the final whistle. The stick work of the Ards team, which was All Ireland Feile champions two years ago, was top class and that was the telling difference between the teams. Ballycran could run with the ball and almost every shot went between the posts. An Riocht had a good share of possession and chances created by their total commitment but lacked that extra bit of skill necessary to make the most of them. Still skill can be coached into a player, heart can't so there is a good foundation for An Riocht mentors to work from. Team Nathasha O'Hare, Sarah Jane Harper, Shauniece Harper, Maria Higgins; Ella Colgan, Sinead Branagan, Leone Sloan; Coleen Fearon, Carrie Killen; Rebecca Cunningham, Noelle Fearon, Nicole Kelly; Cheryl Flood, Lauren Gaffney, Beth Farrell. Subs Aoife Mooney, Lauren Cunningham, Orla McAlinden, Tiarna Rooney, Charlene White. All the subs got a game. Thanks to Morgan Cars for sponsoring this team in the final. Thanks to James Magennis who refereed the match. * Texas Hold 'Em Poker from 9pm at Dunavil on Friday 28th November. *An Riocht Juvenile Awards are on Friday 5th December at 7pm at Dunavil. * The Div Two promotion playoff match Bryansford v Clann Na Banna is at 2pm at Dunavil on Sunday. Any club members available to help with arrangements should be at Dunavil for 1pm. KYC * Kingdom Youth Club was well represented at the Children-in-Need event in Kilkeel on Friday with singers and dancers taking to the stage in the Kilkeels got Talent competition. Well done everyone. * The Young Mens Project returned to the ever popular climbing wall in Tollymore last week. * Preparations are underway for the Dickens Day float, if you can help please contact the club. * Plan ahead. The Artcart will pay its first ever visit to the area on Monday evening 8th December while Big Tellys 'Press Play' will at Dunavil on Tuesday 2nd December.
