Downpatrick maintain Division Two status
November 14, 2008
Downpatrick 0-9
Tullylish 0-8
A superb performance, which included two winning points late on, from Kevin Gracey ensured that Downpatrick would be playing their league football in Division Two next season after they overcame Tullylish by a single point last Sunday at Castlewellan.
After a nip and tuck first-half, the Hoops led by a single point at the break (0-6 to 0-5) thanks to the points of Andrew Telford and Gracey.
In the second-half Tullylish raced out of the traps and Kevin McKiverigan and Chris McGovern shot them in front before a wonderful score from Grace has the game level once more.
Peter Quinn edged Tullylish back in front with a well struck free towards the closing stages, but Gracey was on hand to save the day for the Hoops as he converted two vital placed balls, which sees them avoid the drop at their opponents' expense.
