Another full house at South Down Scor
November 10, 2008
Forty years after the first 'official' Scór competition in 1969, it was like old times again on Sunday night last at the South Down Scór na nÓg finals in the Saval Sports and Leisure Complex.
The capacity crowds who filled the halls in Tullylish, Glassdrumman, Hilltown and Mayobridge a few weeks ago did the same on Sunday and the capacity Saval audience was treated to four hours of top class entertainment from the GAA youth of South Down.
Guests of Honour were former GAA Uachtarán, Paddy McFlynn and Anthony Williamson, who was one of the instigators of Scór as a national GAA activity all those years ago, along with prominent members of the County committee headed by Kevin Bell county chairman and the East Down Board and East Down Scór committee members.
For the first time in years, every club affiliated to the South Down GAA Board took part in the competitions and it's hoped that the same will continue to the Scór Sinsear competitions in early 2009.
At the end of the night a certificate was presented to representatives of all these clubs by South Down Board and Scór chairman William Smith who thanked the clubs for their magnificent support for Scór in this special year and in which he challenged every club to maintain their support for Scór until the present season ends in April 2009.
With Saval's Anne Lennon in charge of proceedings, the competitions got underway shortly after 5.00pm and ended shortly after 9 o'clock.
Every competition was keenly contested and the results were as follows.
